Semi-Finished Decks (Part 1)

Our decks are semi-finished! I say semi-finished because we're still awaiting our black railing. The decks turned out so great and it was exactly what we were looking for here. This is the largest deck on the back of the house- right off the future living room. We created this deck to host a large table for meals/gatherings.

6x6" posts mirror each other on both sides of the stairs (unfinished) for climbing roses. One day beautiful blooms will arch both stair entries. The straight stairway to the left of the porch meets the future courtyard/garden. I designed the stairways to flare at the end for flowerpots to sit. The stairway will also get the black railing eventually.

The right side of the deck had a larger stairway since it follows the hillside. I designed this stairway to cut in towards the yard to allow a larger access point for storage under the deck and for landscaping between the house and the stairs. I love the middle landing coming up the stairs for a halfway break. This stairway descends down to the flower/vegetable garden.

I'm excited to host friends and family on this porch. I'll be sharing the last two decks as those are finished now, too (they're just as great)! Things are moving along inside the house as drywall is being installed. Stay tuned for another farmhouse update soon!

Hugs, Alyssa
