Our Painted "Black Beauty" Dresser

We recently started carrying the gorgeous Jolie Paint line at the shoppe after I painted our kitchen pantry in "Noir" several months ago. I fell in love with the ease of this non-toxic paint and had another job for this color... our bedroom wardrobe!

I picked this dresser up from the gals at Farmhouse Frocks and knew right away a sharp matte black would be a perfect shade for our bedroom. I love the curvatures of this dresser and its detailed handles. Plus it offers many drawers for our clothes- which was needed.

Without sanding the piece before painting, I gave the entire dresser a shade of the "Noir" black paint. I also painted the handles the same color and brushed on some Rub N' Buff in "Antique Gold" to pop the fine details. Once the dresser was painted, I took the clear finishing wax and an old Norwex cloth (lint free is what you're looking for) and wiped the wax onto the dresser. This clear wax acts as a sealant so that your piece is durable and won't scratch.

I love how the dresser accents the hues of the old homestead art piece hanging above it. A large clear demijohn and some faux pussy willows offset and anchor the wall while part of my collection of brass/glass jewelry boxes add interest on top of the dresser. The contrast of the black "Noir" color against our light lime washed walls is striking.

Do you have a piece that would benefit from a fresh coat of love? I would love to hear what you would paint below!

Hugs, Alyssa

I have an entire King Size bedroom suite… headboard, footboard, two night stands, huge dresser and mirror…

I love this – I have almost the exact same dresser and this excites me! Did you sand the dresser first or use a deglosser?
